Change of clothing in Year 1

As your child is still very young, accidents still happen.  If your child accidentally wets/soils him/herself, we do have spare clothes in school and, as before when they were in Reception class, staff will assist your child to change into clean dry underwear.  If you have any objections for our staff to continue to do this, then you must let us know and it will be recorded correctly.  If we do not hear from you, then we will assume that you are happy for staff to do this.    It is good practice to still provide extra spare clothing in school.

Increase in dinners starting September 2019

Dear Parent/Guardian

We would like to let parents know that there will be an increase in the costing of school lunches starting September 2019, from £9.80 to £10.05.

Any parent who thinks they may be entitled to free school meals, should now apply online,

https://www.barnsley.gov.uk

then follow the links for School and Learning, and then to free school meals.

Once the application form has been completed and submitted, it will be received in the applications office and processed.  You should then receive notification of when (if applicable) free school meals start. Parents who do not have access to a computer/internet are welcome to use our computer, set up in the Reception area.

Please note that school is cashless, this means that we no longer accept cash/cheques in school.  Payments for lunches, trips etc… will have to be made through ParentPay.

Your account must show either a credit or zero balance at the end of every week.

If you have any questions or need any help regarding the above, then please do not hesitate in contacting the school office.  It would be very helpful if your ParentPay account was set up before September if you have not already done so.

Birthdays

Queens Road Academy welcome children to celebrate their birthdays with their class friends.  If you are sending in a cake, please be mindful that teachers don’t have the supplies to cut up and give out cake for children to take home i.e. serviettes/plates/bags etc.  If your child has something to share with the whole class, please ensure that this is appropriately wrapped to give out at the end of the school day.

‘PLEASE, THINK BEFORE YOU PARK – KEEP OUR CHILDREN SAFE’

We have had reports of dangerous parking on Queens Road, particularly when parents are dropping off and collecting children.  Can parents please be mindful about where they are parking?  The school do inform Traffic Enforcement of incidents that are passed to us by parents and members of the public.  Parents can proactively help by recording and reporting incidents via the link below;

https://www.barnsley.gov.uk/services/roads-travel-and-parking/parking/report-obstructive-parking/

As a school, we try and encourage all parents to use the Metrodome car park.  This is to try and keep yourselves and the children safe.  You can apply for a parking permit from the school office.
